Fool’s Gold

They’ll throw you into
a ditch of despair,
with a shovel
and a lamp.

They’ll toss you a
book of love poems,
dim the lights,
Dig for it

No –

Look around you,
the rest are busied,
with their shovels in hand,
Digging, digging, digging

You could spend a lifetime
searching in all the wrong places,
but all you’ll find are skeletons,
and fool’s gold.
