A Viking’s Funeral

We may have
had a chance in
another lifetime,
perhaps even a
boat that sailed
onwards more
than fifty feet,
deep out into the
sea of tranquility,
we each shot our
flaming arrows
into a night sky,
they landed on the
dried tinder of
misunderstanding,
doused the last
bit of our passion
in a hellfire of what
could have been;
the remnants were
charred black as
a sky without a star,
a compass to guide
spun wild with pride,
and I think what
upset us the most
is the fact that this
flame came from
a fellow dragon,
and the heat may
never subside.
