A Haunting

I exorcised my heart,
lit the sage in my head,
I walked the empty floor
until I no longer heard
it creak where you’d
stepped before.

Perhaps I keep letting
you back in,
through the window,
again and again,
to feed off the thought
of what could’ve been.

This haunting‘s become
a home, our house of sin,
but I promise I’ve every
intention of letting you in.
